My name is Mariah Schultz, and I am thrilled to be serving in the Diocese of Superior as the Totus Tuus Intern for another summer! I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself and the events the Lord used to get me to serve you in this faculty.
I was born and raised in Spooner, WI. St. Francis de Sales is my home parish, and I attended Catholic school there from pre-school all the way up until eighth grade. It has been a huge blessing to be apart of the community there.
My first real experience with Totus Tuus was when I was in high school. I had always known that they came to my parish, and I had been invited to go. I never really attended consistently. From the times I went in high school, I do remember hearing the faith stories of team members, being prayed with, and going to Adoration.
I spent two years serving as a NET Missionary (NET stands for the National Evangelization Teams). In those two years, I was given the opportunity to put on retreats for middle school and high school students all over the country. It was incredible and totally life-changing. In the two years combined, the teams I was apart of helped facilitate around 235 ministry events in about 19 states. The majority of our ministry included conducting retreats, but other events I participated in included Archdiocesan Youth Day in the Archdiocese of St.Paul/Minneapolis, Lifeline Masses, and middle school youth nights at St. Joseph's parish in West St. Paul. It was shocking and humbling to me to see how the Lord could use us to move in the lives of people all over the country. It was as if He would move the most when it seemed practically impossible. I think He likes to do that to remind us that it isn't by our own goodness or strength that lives are changed. "But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness."..." -2 Corinthians 12:9 I truly believe my time serving with NET taught me to rely on Jesus through prayer and the sacraments. This past year I completed my first year at the University of Minnesota, Duluth, studying Secondary English Education. I hope to someday be an English Teacher.
Last summer was a great experience, and I'm thrilled about the coming months! The teams we have this summer are going to be an incredible blessing for all of our parishes. I am so excited to see how the Lord is going to use His love in their lives change those of the young people of our diocese!
Besides forming and supporting the Totus Tuus team and corresponding with parishes about the program, I will help with Extreme Faith Camp and assist with various other tasks in the diocese this summer. Please pray for me and know that I am praying for you! May God bless you and this Diocese abundantly!
In Christ through Mary,
