Meet the 2021 Totus Tuus Missionaries

These incredible young adults have each said "yes" to giving their whole selves for a whole summer to be on mission in the Diocese of Superior. As a Totus Tuus missionary, they travel to a different parish each week to invest in the youth and young adults in the diocese through catechetical teaching, building relationships, the sacraments, and having a whole lot of fun! Please keep the missionaries in your prayers this summer.

"John Paul II"

Hunter, Lydia, Colette, and Carl will be hitting up the east side of the diocese this summer. You will be seeing them at: Rice Lake, Extreme Faith Camp @ Crescent Lake, Rhinelander, Eagle River, Merrill, Park Falls, and Hudson.

Carl
Coming from St Joseph’s parish in Amery, Carl is fired up to be back in the diocese this summer as a Totus Tuus missionary! Carl graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth this past May with his degree in mechanical engineering and he will be entering St Francis de Sales Seminary in the fall. This summer, Carl is most excited to meet all the wonderful people in the diocese and walk with the youth and young adults towards Christ. Fun facts about Carl include: Carl built rockets for the rocket club at UMD, he is probably the best swing dancer in the northwoods of Wisconsin, and his favorite spiritual reading is Introduction to the Devout Life by St Francis de Sales.

Colette
Colette cannot wait to see the ways that God will use her to impact the youth and young adults in the diocese this summer as a Totus Tuus missionary! Having attended Immaculate Conception parish in New Richmond, Colette now studies psychology at the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota with the hopes of having a career in counseling one day. She is looking forward to a summer that will allow her to grow deeper in prayer as well as interact and teach kids! Some fun facts about Colette include: she ran both cross country and track in high school, her dream is to write a book in the future, and she loves spending time with her Saint-pal St Teresa of Calcutta!

Lydia
Never without a smile on her face, Lydia is thrilled to serve her first year as a Totus Tuus missionary in the diocese of Superior where she can’t wait to build holy friendships in the diocese! Lydia is from Hudson and grew up attending St Patrick’s parish. She now goes to school at Benedictine College in Atchison, KS and she is studying psychology with a minor in education. In her free time, Lydia loves to travel just about anywhere (ask her about all of her adventures!), she is a pro at knitting and embroidering, and she loves connecting with Jesus through praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

Hunter
Having attended St Francis Xavier parish in Merrill, Hunter is stoked to see the sights of the diocese this summer while leading youth and young adults into a deeper relationship with Christ and the Church. Hunter currently lives in Madison where he is studying Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. Some of Hunter’s best qualities include: learning how to spin a basketball on his finger during quarantine, becoming a Spikeball ambassador (feel free to challenge him in a rigorous game of Spikeball!) and choosing St John the Apostle as his confirmation saint so his full name can be “Hunter John, John Wallace.”

"Mother Teresa"

Tyler, Hannah, Jenny, and Riley will be traveling throughout the west side of the diocese this summer. You will be seeing them at: Hayward, Extreme Faith Camp @ Crosswoods, Medford, Spooner, Ladysmith, Ashland, and New Richmond.

St Mother Teresa... pray for us.

Tyler
Having a genuine heart for sharing the Good News with young people, Tyler is excited to give back to his home diocese by serving as a Totus Tuus missionary this summer! After graduating high school, Tyler served a year as a NET missionary and has served two summers as a Damascus missionary in Ohio. Tyler is currently a student at Benedictine College in Atchison, KS where he studies theology and evangelization. He attended St Francis de Sales parish in Spooner growing up. Tyler really loves running in his free time, he is very proud of the fact that he once fed a bear cub, and he loves connecting with God through praise and worship (you may have seen him lead music at Extreme Faith Camp in past summers!).

Jenny
Coming back for yet another fun-filled summer, this will be Jenny’s second time serving as a Totus Tuus missionary in the diocese! She looks forward to sharing her laughter and profound love for Jesus with those she was not able to meet during her first summer as a Totus Tuus missionary and she is just as excited to reconnect with those she already knows! Jenny grew up attending St Dominic’s in Frederic and now lives in Bismark, ND where she studies theology at the University of Mary. Most don’t know this about Jenny, but she wasn’t able to cry tears out of both eyes until the age of one, her dream job as a child was to be a bull-rider, and the Saint that she is bonding with the most right now is St Teresa of Calcutta.

Hannah
Hannah is traveling all the way from the parish of St Bernards in Stewartville MN to share her spunky personality and gifts with the diocese as a Totus Tuus missionary this summer! Currently studying math and english education at the University of Mary in Bismarck ND, Hannah is most looking forward to spending a summer up in the northwoods of Wisconsin and meeting all the amazing people in the diocese! Some notable facts about Hannah include: she loves math so much that she has sung the quadratic formula in front of 300 people, her absolute favorite beverage is milk, and her go-to Scripture verse is 2 Timothy 2:22!

Riley
Riley is ready to give his summer to God by serving as a Totus Tuus missionary in the diocese this year! Riley is most looking forward to spending time outside, interacting with kids, and being able to dedicate a summer to intentionally growing in holiness with his teammates! Coming from St Anne’s parish in Somerset, Riley has been studying exercise science at St John’s University in Minnesota. If there is anything you should know about Riley it would be: he is the proud champ of his 5th grade Geography Bee, he recently picked up landscaping as his new hobby, and he is a big fan of St Patrick because of his passion for evangelization at a young age and because St Patrick is Irish.

Over the years, young adults have repeatedly said that giving their summer to serve as a Totus Tuus missionary was one of the most formative and fruitful seasons in their faith journey. Are you interested in joining next year's team or do you know someone who would be a great Totus Tuus missionary?
